Team Songs // Player Songs // Opposition Chants

Football chants and songs are repetitive tunes that are generated by the crowd at games. Throughout Europe and Latin America it is considered normal for supporters to spend much of their time shouting at the players, opposing spectators, the referee, or just the world in general. They are intended to encourage the supporters team, insult the oppostition, or just make noise.

The songs and chants themselves can vary enormously, from the simple and repetitive to the topical and complex, encompassing tradition and hilarity. They frequently contain provocative and antagonistic lyrics but it is said that they generally contribute to people's enjoyment of the game with it's atmosphere and will hopefully soon be a part of Rugby League culture in Australia.

This section is dedicated to bringing you the most detailed array of songs and chants that have manifest themselves since our reintroduction in 2002.

In this section you will have the ability to not only read the chant, but play sound files to hum your little hearts.

Rabbitohs
Rab – it – ohs
Rab – it – ohs
Rab – it – ohs
Rab – it – ohs
Tune: Liverpool FC
Great tune adapted from the Liverpool football club. It is sung very slow and the pitch changes up and down.

Botany Road
Take me home, Botany Road
To the place, I belong
Back to Redfern
South ‘o Sydney
Take me home, Botany Road
Tune: Country Roads
Spawned out of a pub in the rocks on our pub crawl. Will be the anthem for the rest of 2006 we thinks.

Follow Follow Follow
Follow Follow Follow
'Cause we're travelling in a jumbo
We are the red and green
And we’re the best that you’ve seen
And now it's off to Brisbane we go!!!!!
Tune: The Entertainer/ The Sting

To be sung at the game in the weeks leading up to game against the northern monkeys

South Sydney Till I Die
South Sydney 'til I die,
South Sydney 'til I die
I know I am, I'm sure I am
South Sydney 'til I die.
Tune: I'm Happy

Sung with your hands in the air. Infact most of our songs are lol.
This song epotmises those that congregate in TSE. If you sing it loud enough you can disturb the two headed fish that live in the river near by...

We are one
We are one,
But we are many
And we fought
for the pride of Redfern.
We cheer our team
And we sing in one voice
I am
you are
We are
The Rabbitohs
Tune: I am/ we are Australian

They made this song for us. If it gets sung anywhere else in the terraces you will know its origins. Usually sung with hands in the air and a lot of pointing!!!

Roll Along
Roll along South Sydney oh roll along
To the Top of the league where you belong
After 98 years
Of blood sweat and tears
The pride of the league is going strong...
Tune: She'll be comin round the
moutain when she comes

We've been singing this for a while lol.
Still waiting for it to come to fruition.

The greatest football team
In a town where I was born
There’s a team that plays – Rugby League
And their called the Rabbitohs
And they play in the – Red and Green
We all follow the mighty Red and Green
The greatest football team
The world has ever seen
20 times they've conquered all
Many famous names - we adore
Passion, pride and history
The eternal.... South Sydney

Chorus again.....
Tune: Yellow Submarine

Circa 2003
This little ripper gets the fire in the loins

One team in Sydney
One team in Sydney,
There's only one team in Sydney,
One team in Sydney.
There's only one team in Sydney
Tune: Guantanamera

One of the first original songs that sung. Origins were against the family club 2002.

There's only one
There's only 1 South Sydney,
1 South Sydney
Walking along, Singing our song,
Singing Glory, glory all the way. x2
Tune: Walking in a Winter Wonderland

The very first song that caught the attention of
the South Sydney public. 2003 vs The family club

Bridge Over Troubled Water
Sail on Rabbitohs… Sail on by…
Your time has come… to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
Woooooahh if you need a hand
I’m sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Tune: Bridge over troubled water

Not sung very often but may be heard
when we are in deep shit. Origins 2005

Botany Bay
South Sydney's the team we all follow
The pride of the league is their name
Our style of support is phenomenal
We'll Travel to every game
We'll sing all our songs with great passion
We'll sing in the snow, rain and sun
But wait til that special old Sunday
When the Rabbitohs get twenty-one
Oh if I were to see that great Sunday
When premiership glory comes by
To see the red & green champions
We'll drink all night long to sunrise
Now all my Sing-gers End fanaticals
Lets all sing this song til that day
And when it comes round we'll all drink again
Singing glory to Souths all the way

Sing-ingggg too ral li - ooral li- ad-dity
Sing-ingggg too ral li - ooral li- ay
Sing-ingggg too ral li - ooral li- ad-dity
We're bound for Homebush Bay
Tune: Botany Bay

The Epic. Efforts and praise go out to Nono for his input. This song is alway sung toward the end of a winning game (usually everyone is embraced like a ship of drunken fools) by 5 or so people. The only way we can have a victory song is if YOU learn it!!!!

We're South Sydney
We’re South Sydney
We’re South Sydney
Glory Glory
Red and Green
Hold your head high
Never Say Die
No surrender
South Sydney
Tune: Sailing - Rod Stewart

A good ‘singing’ song.
